with VineyardMusicke Young imaginations are transported to a Scandinavian castle in this magical winter solstice tale of a wizard, an ailing king, and the struggle to choose his young successor. Storytelling, costumed Baroque musicians, and visual illusions set the atmosphere for a mysterious, suspenseful and heartwarming adventure. Magician/storyteller Margaret Steele joins the acclaimed early music group, VineyardMusicke, playing 17th Century Swedish folk and court music on original instruments. Featuring a story by award-winning children's author, Marguerite Davol, King by the Wayward Sea was first presented at New York's Vineyard Theatre in 1991 and has been performed in theaters and schools throughout the eastern United States. Forty-five minutes long, for grades K-5. More info. |
